"Scènes et pics" conference
Orientalism and colonial propaganda of Amazigh women
Description du service
During the colonization of North Africa, France produced millions of postcards depicting women and young women, entitled "Scènes et Types". North African descendants, particularly Amazigh, still suffer today from this orientalist representation. “Scènes et Pics” is a conference and artistic production of postcards in which I put myself on stage to understand who these women were and how they can today reappropriate their image outside of a prism of Western colonial memory. The conference can be followed by a Timazighn workshop around jewelry and ouchems (tattoos) of Amazigh women to understand the symbolism and uses of these attributes.
